ONLINE RETURNS POLICY
At Lite-Glo Electrical Wholesalers (Powerlec (Pty) Ltd), we stand behind the quality of our products. This policy explains how to return items bought online. We operate in line with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), and nothing in this policy limits your rights under those laws.
Your statutory rights come first:
- 7-day cooling-off (ECTA s 44): you may cancel an online order within 7 days after delivery, for any reason — your only cost is the return shipping.
- 6-month defect warranty (CPA s 56): if goods are defective, unsafe or not fit for their usual purpose within 6 months, you may return them for a repair, replacement or refund, at our expense.
The 30-day policy below is offered in addition to those rights.
✅ 30-Day Exchange or Refund (change of mind)
You may return goods for exchange or refund within 30 days of purchase, provided:
- Items are unused, in original packaging and in resalable condition;
- You provide valid proof of purchase.
Change-of-mind returns outside the 7-day cooling-off period may be subject to a 20% handling fee, and you are responsible for return shipping. Returns that don’t meet these conditions can’t be accepted — but your statutory rights for defective goods always remain.
❌ Excluded from change-of-mind returns
The following can’t be returned simply for a change of mind (defective items are always covered by the 6-month statutory warranty):
- Cable and sprague tubing sold per meter (cut-to-length);
- Used or installed goods — anything that has been wired in, fitted or energised — including used light bulbs and consumables;
- Special-order items;
- Legrand Netatmo products not installed by an accredited Legrand installer;
- Solar equipment, inverters, batteries and Legrand Netatmo products not installed by an accredited installer and/or without a valid Certificate of Compliance (these carry the manufacturer’s accredited-installation warranty conditions);
- Any other electrical product that has been installed, part-installed or energised — for a change-of-mind return, electrical goods must be unused, uninstalled and in their original packaging (see “Professional installation” below).
📦 Damaged in transit
If goods arrive damaged, please report it within 48 hours of receiving your order, with photos. You may either return the item to our Randburg branch, or request a courier collection (we’ll arrange it). Where a third-party courier was used we may lodge an insurance claim — but we won’t make you wait on the courier’s internal process for your replacement or refund, except where we reasonably suspect the damage did not occur in transit. Reporting later may delay resolution but does not remove your statutory rights for defective goods.
🛠️ Warranty claims (defective products)
If a product develops a manufacturing fault within its warranty period, it may qualify for a warranty claim.
- Within the first 6 months (CPA s 56): you may choose a repair, replacement or refund, and we carry the cost of return transport for valid claims.
- After 6 months: the manufacturer’s warranty applies (periods vary by product). We’ll help facilitate the claim; for out-of-statutory-warranty claims, return transport is for your account unless the manufacturer provides otherwise.
Warranty claims don’t cover damage from incorrect installation, misuse or negligence, external damage (e.g. power surges), or normal wear and tear.
Professional Installation — all electrical products. Many of our products, including circuit breakers, distribution boards, isolators, fixed wiring accessories, geyser components, inverters and solar equipment, must by law be installed by a registered/qualified person, with a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) where one is required (Electrical Installation Regulations, 2009). No warranty or claim covers any fault, damage or loss arising from DIY, unqualified or non-compliant installation, misuse, or a failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Where the law requires professional installation, please keep your installer’s details and CoC, we may ask for them when assessing a claim. For your safety, and to keep your warranty valid, always use a qualified electrician.
To claim: email [email protected] with your order number, a description of the fault, and photos/videos if available. We’ll assess the claim and, where needed, ask that the product be returned to our Randburg branch for evaluation.
💳 Refunds
Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method:
- Credit / Debit card (may take 7–14 business days to reflect);
- EFT;
- Contractor Account (credited accordingly).
