How much does delivery cost and how long does it take? Lite-Glo delivery, collection and lead times, explained

Quick answer: Delivery from liteglo.co.za is a flat R149.99 including VAT* anywhere in South Africa, and free on orders of R3,500 or more. Johannesburg and surrounds arrive in 1 to 3 business days, the rest of the country in 5 to 7 business days, counted from when your payment clears. Oversized items (solar panels, lengths over 2 metres, bulk cable and orders over 50 kg) carry a flat surcharge per order that is shown before we process it. If you are in Johannesburg and in a hurry, click-and-collect from our Randburg warehouse is usually ready within about an hour of the ready notification during working hours. Every figure here comes from our published Terms and Conditions (clauses 12 to 14) and the Delivery Service page, as at September 2026.

*T&C’s apply. Some items carry a delivery surcharge; delivery fees and times are set out on our Terms and Conditions page.

Two of the most common questions our online desk gets are “what does delivery cost to my town” and “when will it arrive”. This guide answers both, shows the fee on three real baskets, and explains when collecting is the faster choice. It is written from our own terms, so if anything here ever disagrees with the Terms and Conditions or the Delivery Service page, those two pages win.

What delivery costs

Checkout shows it as “Delivered: R149.99” and your order total names the VAT it contains. The standard fee is one flat R149.99 including VAT per order, whether the parcel is going across Randburg or to Upington. Spend R3,500 or more in one order and delivery is free. The fee is per order, not per item, so a basket of twenty small parts costs the same to ship as a basket of one.

Three worked examples, so you can see how the threshold works:

  • A DIY basket: ten metres of 2.5mm² flat twin and earth, two double sockets and a lever switch. A basket this size stays under the threshold, so delivery is R149.99.
  • A contractor top-up: a 100 metre roll of 2.5mm² twin and earth and a few breakers. If adding an earth leakage unit takes the basket past R3,500, the delivery fee falls away, so the bigger basket can cost less to land than the smaller one plus a second trip.
  • A geyser job: 4mm² Surfix, a double-pole isolator, a thermostat and an element. Delivery R149.99, or collect in Randburg for nothing.

What is the lead time after payment?

The clock starts when your payment clears, not when you place the order, because stock is only reserved once payment is confirmed. A card payment clears at once. An electronic transfer clears when the bank confirms it, so a Friday afternoon transfer usually becomes a Monday dispatch. From cleared payment, most orders leave us the same or the next working day; then the delivery window below applies.

How long delivery takes

Johannesburg and surrounds: 1 to 3 business days. Everywhere else in South Africa: 5 to 7 business days. Business days are Monday to Friday; deliveries run 07:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and, in Johannesburg only, 07:30 to 13:00 on Saturdays. The clock starts when your payment has cleared, not when you click “place order”, because stock is only reserved once payment is confirmed (clause 11 of the terms). An EFT that clears on Friday afternoon is therefore a Monday dispatch.

Those are the published windows, and they include the courier’s time on the road. Our own half of it is measured: across 1,200 completed orders in the last 90 days, 88 percent of collections were ready within a day and 77 percent of deliveries were handed to the courier within one working day. So most orders leave us the same or the next working day, and the courier’s transit runs on top of that. Orders waiting on supplier stock take longer, and we tell you the date as soon as we have it.

These are estimates given in good faith. If we cannot meet them we tell you and give a new date, and as a consumer you can accept the new date or cancel for a full refund (section 19 of the Consumer Protection Act, as our terms state).

Oversized and heavy items: the surcharge table

Some things do not fit a courier bag. For those the fee is a flat surcharge per order, not per item, and it is shown or confirmed before we process the order. Where a fee applies that checkout did not show, we contact you for approval first; there are no surprises after payment.

Item type Johannesburg National
Solar panels R149.99 R5,000
Conduit, trunking, power skirting and cable trays over 2 metres R149.99 R500
Orders over 50 kg, bulk cable, bulk Sprague tubing, large solar products, outlying or rural addresses Quoted Quoted

The practical reading: solar panels are worth collecting or ordering with a local installer’s delivery; 3 metre lengths of trunking, power skirting and cable tray travel fine within Johannesburg at the standard fee; and a drum of armoured cable to a farm is a quote, which we send before you pay.

Collect instead: the faster option in Johannesburg

Click-and-collect is free. Choose it at checkout and collect from our Randburg warehouse, Monday to Friday 07:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 07:30 to 13:00, or from the Strijdom Park branch; both are free and both are offered at checkout wherever you are in the country. In Gauteng you will also see an Uber Parcel Collection option, which you arrange yourself from our Randburg counter; it does not appear outside Gauteng. Orders are usually ready within about 60 minutes during working hours, but only once you receive the ready-for-collection notification, so wait for it before you drive. Bring your order confirmation email; it is required at the counter.

If you need goods urgently, including that 60-minute collection, confirm availability with us before ordering (clause 12.3), because stock indicators on the site are updated regularly but are not real-time. Collect within 14 days of the notification; after 30 days uncollected an order may be cancelled and refunded less the costs the law allows.

What happens if something on your order is short

We stock thousands of lines, but not every item is in the Randburg warehouse at all times; some are ordered from suppliers per order. If an item is delayed or unavailable after you have paid, we tell you promptly and you choose: wait for the stated lead time, take an alternative, or take an immediate full refund for the affected items. The rest of the order can still go out. Our guide to what the stock labels on a product page actually mean is the companion to this one.

When your parcel arrives

Someone must be available to receive it at the address you gave, with the suburb and postal code correct. A failed or returned delivery because of a wrong address or nobody home carries a re-delivery fee of at least the standard fee. Check the goods on arrival and report shortages, wrong items or transit damage within 48 hours so we can fix it and lodge the courier claim; late reporting can make a courier claim impossible, though it does not remove your statutory rights on defective goods. Risk passes to you on delivery or collection.

Trade accounts and delivery

Account holders see their tier price on every product when signed in, and the same delivery rules apply: R149.99 flat, free from R3,500, which most trade baskets clear. Goods on account are released once the order is allocated within the account’s terms and limit. If you buy for a living and are not on a tier yet, our trade account guide explains how the tiers work.

Frequently asked questions

How much is delivery from Lite-Glo?

R149.99 including VAT, flat, anywhere in South Africa, and free on orders of R3,500 or more, plus a flat per-order surcharge on oversized items (solar panels, lengths over 2 metres, bulk cable, orders over 50 kg) that is shown or confirmed before processing.

How long does delivery take?

Johannesburg and surrounds 1 to 3 business days; the rest of South Africa 5 to 7 business days, counted from cleared payment. Estimates, not promises; if we miss one you get a new date or a refund.

Can I collect my order?

Yes, free, from the Randburg warehouse (Mon to Fri 07:00 to 17:00, Sat 07:30 to 13:00) or Strijdom Park where offered at checkout, usually within about an hour of the ready notification during working hours. Wait for the notification before travelling.

Do you deliver outside South Africa?

No. Orders from outside South Africa are collection-only from Johannesburg.

Why was I asked to approve an extra delivery fee?

Because your order included an oversized or heavy item, or an outlying address, that checkout could not price automatically. We ask before processing so there is no surprise; you can approve, change the order, or collect.

What if I am not home when the courier comes?

A failed delivery is re-attempted after a re-delivery fee of at least the standard fee. Give a business address or a neighbour if weekdays are difficult, or choose collection.
